About

A Rich History - Eersterust Adventist church was started by 4 women.

1. Humble beginnings
The Adventist church in the Eersterust community is known as a family church, started by the grand-/great- grandmothers of well known "brown" church families within the Gauteng region. Names you will recognize, Lutchman, Alexander, Slingers, ...

2. Administration
In it's early days, the church was part of the Cape Conference, being a "brown" church despite its geographic location, being 1500kms away from Cape Town. The church is now falling within the Northern Conference of Seventh-day Adventist administration district.

3. "Halfway house"
The church served as some sort of halfway house for weary travellers between the South and North.

Many of these travellers found a room, bed or mattress with a warm plate of food under the Lutchman roof. Later these hospitalities extended to the Nefdt household and other Lutchman siblings as they established their own domiciles, continuing their mother and grandmother's generosity.

4. The next generation
The 'now' next generation is standing firm like a needle to the pole, carrying the torch handed to them through the generations, of being proud Adventists with strong roots in their DNA as Lutchmans.
